BRIEF ABOUT: The Lima Symphony Orchestra begins its 2016-2017, featuring two compositions by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQd3CqbJaYA who infused his reserved Symphony No. 6 with characteristic simplicity evoking the feeling of a new snow. This piece contrasts perfectly with his Violin Concerto, which blends a contrast of cold intensity with a warm, singing melody in what has often been called his “polonaise for polar bears.” 2016 Friends of the Symphony Young Artist Competition winner Seo Yon Park will bring the breathtaking fireworks of this Violin Concerto to life.
