BLOOMINGTON, MN (AAPJ) – “EGO-Logical: From Separation to Interbeing” is an art exhibition featuring the work of local St. Paul, Minnesota artist Christopher Palbicki. The exhibition, presented by Artistry in on view on Thursday, July 23, 2020 in the Atrium Gallery at the Bloomington Center for the Arts through Saturday, September 12, 2020.
Artist Palbicki tackles what he calls “the root of humanity’s suffering” in his exhibition. Through his hyper-realistic and detailed acrylic paintings, the artist examines how we, as a society and as individuals, have become egocentric and separate; from one another, our natural world, and even ourselves.
Yet it is our connectedness, Palbicki asserts, that makes us most powerful and provides us the ability to work towards the well-being and development of the whole. Unambiguous in design and infused with life, the resulting paintings are a demand for action and a solemn elegy over what has been lost and what hangs precariously in the balance.
By highlighting the inevitable conflicts and conundrums that lurk just beneath the surface, both figuratively and literally, these colorful narratives are as much about ideology as aesthetics.
“At its core, my artwork doesn’t pretend to provide easy solutions to enduring dilemmas, nor does it seek to pacify our emotions with some naive measure of closure,” says Palbiciki. “Rather, it asks that we merely begin the process of rebuilding our world and ourselves by fearlessly facing the world’s we’ve created.”
