Quilt works warms Depot’s walls

(NWPR-IN) – “The stitches may say craft, but the designs are fine art,” said Jan Roestamadji, Executive Director of the Arts Depot in Union City, Indiana. “On the Walls” is on view through October 28.

The exhibit, “The Art of Quilting” is a ‘challenge’ project comprised of the Wanna Bee Quilters of Winchester. “In the challenge quilts, where each quilter is given a unique yard of fabric; they had to design their own work,” said Roestamadji. Ranging in various sizes, from bed, lap, baby quilts, including smaller works, such as table runners, candle mats, purses, billfolds, jackets, and a “quillow” (a quilt in a pillow), goers can see 58 quilt works and are encouraged to cast their favorite vote.
