Since its founding in 1978, the Hollywood Arts Council has played a vital role in the life of the community. Its primary programs and services include an annual Childrens Festival of the Arts; Project S.O.A.R. (Students Overcoming All Risks) afterschool art workshops conducted in area elementary schools; production of a free daily calendar of local arts events; annual awards luncheon recognizing significant community, artistic, and business contributions to the arts; and arts roundtables for local arts administrators and artists. The Council has an excellent track record and a long history advocating for the arts by working with five Hollywood area neighborhood councils, the Hollywood business community, elected officials, and government agencies/departments.
