34th Annual Black Hills Bluegrass Festival
BRIEF ABOUT: Headlining the festival is the Nu-Blu from North Carolina, which features husband wife team of Carolyn (vocals & bass) and Daniel Routh (guitar & vocal), Levi Austin (banjo & vocal) and Austin Koerner (mandolin). They cover a variety of bluegrass music styles and tour nationwide. All Show times are 6:30 pm Friday; 1:30 and 6:30 pm Saturday and 10:00 am on Sunday. And make sure your bring your instruments for jams after the shows.
The entertainment continues with the Railsplitters are a young group hailing from the Colorado Rockies. They enthusiastically play a refreshing range of bluegrass and beyond with powerful instrumentals, vocals and harmony. Of course, the shows continue with other bands featured to include High Plains Tradition from Colorado, playing traditional bluegrass. The group includes five singers and their harmonies are second to none. Cotton Wood hails from North Dakota and they draw from a variety of musical resources including folk, country, traditional bluegrass and originals. The local group Avalon Roads is a Celtic music duo with Ken Verheecke (guitar) and Katie Lautenschlager (fiddle & penny whistle) for a delightful change of pace. More activities flowing throughout the festival are an Arts and Crafts Show, children’s activities, Spinning and Mountain Man demonstrations. There will be Kettle Korn, festival t-shirts, performers CD’s as well as food and beverages vendors. The programming continues with workshops on Saturday morning and a free Gospel Music Show on Sunday morning.
