Tipp City is an extension of Dayton, Ohio and known for its small picturesque waterfalls and yearly Mum Festival. It is not difficult to understand why a versatile group of talented artists got together in 2015 and promoted the area for its beauty and hidden talent.
Rusty Harden knows first-hand what type of ‘jewel-in-the-rough’ community this city is capable of producing. She sees it and works it every day; in fact, she opened the Rusty Harden Studio as a partner of the community to encourage the joy and accomplishment of art. Her studio is also a place where guest speakers and exhibits are presented on a regular basis.
Harden is a self-taught watercolor artist that has expanded into teaching her craft. As an instructor, she hosts workshops and classes for youth and adults. No experience necessary, Rusty has been guiding students through the fundamentals of watercolor for 15 years. She provides an engaging environment to anyone that wishes to attend.
The artist in her has achieved many accomplishments and is best known for her realistic painting of minerals. Her “sun” art has appeared on CBS Sunday Morning on multiple occasions and her work is often seen in numerous galleries, corporate and private collections. Described as ‘hauntingly beautiful’- Rusty has found her own sense of freedom in displaying the beauty of life and is an advocate in finding new artistic talent in the area.
Creativity led Rusty to open the Vintage Boho Boutique where visitors are able to browse among handcrafted artisan jewelry, greeting cards made by local artists, fossils and minerals, art supplies and much more.
The down-to-earth selections found in her store are warm and charming. It is a perfect place for finding that last minute thoughtful gift. You can also pick up a copy of her book “The Darkling Sky” which combines literature and art in the inventive process of her “Bibelot” Series.
There is very little that Rusty Harden has not been involved in when it comes to art in Tipp City. From fundraisers, paint parties and being a mentor to others, she is also a long-time active member of the Tipp City art community and a charter member of the TC AAC.
