(NWPR-OH) – Since 2006 when a tiny group of artists met to discuss the creation of the named, Riverside Art Center, it has become that place to “inspire creativity through the arts” which is located in downtown Wapakoneta, Ohio. Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945) said, “The only limit our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward with strong and active faith.” RAC has been doing and their wheels of change have not slowed down.
One of the Center’s popular juried exhibits, “Greater Wapakoneta Community Art Show” went on display several weeks ago, consisting of an array of watercolors, photography, drawings, mixed media, including 3-D works. Those chosen for the following awards were:
Best of Show went to Dick Chenoweth, sponsored by Quality Ready Mix ($150); Hannah Geyer, Mary Kent Foundation Award ($100); Alice Schneider, Schlosser Funeral Home Award ($100); Kay Sluterbeck, Embellishments Creativity Award ($100); Barb Sailor, GA Wintzer Artistic Award ($100); Anna Fisher, Wapakoneta Community Foundation Award ($50); William LeRoy, Riverside Members Award ($50); Deb Sommerville, Mike and Pam Doepker Award; Melanie Norman, Wiesenmayer Law Office Award ($50); and Bill Heinmeier, Knoch Photography Award ($50.) The show remains on view through Saturday, October 30.
The casts of the artists, including the other ‘shakers’ has met the challenge head on by continuing their historical beginning into a ‘giant leap’ for the Wapakoneta area communities. For more information, see www.riversideartcenter.org.
