(PNAN) – On Saturday, September 25 between 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, the museums and Fort Worth Community Arts Center in the Fort Worth Cultural District will stage the fifth annual “Day in the District” – a celebration of the rich and diverse cultural organizations in Fort Worth, Texas region.
The museums will offer free admission to exhibitions and various performances. The festival is designed to invite local residents to enjoy the world-class cultural experiences offered every day in Fort Worth.
Exhibitions on view are: Amon Carter Museum of American Art, “Ansel Adams: Eloquent Light”; Fort Worth Botanic Garden, Public Art Tour; Fort Worth Community Arts Center, “Preservation is the Art of the City” and Distinguished Texas Artist Martin Delabano in “An Artful Life”; Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Interactive science and history exhibits, including the Fort Worth Children’s Museum and Cattle Raisers Museum; Kimbell Art Museum, “Fiery Pool: The Maya and the Mythic Sea”; Log Cabin Village, “Harvest Homecoming” from Noon to 4:00 pm; National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, a world of the cowgirl through memorabilia, interactive exhibits and multimedia presentations,
and opening at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, “Vernon Fisher: K-Mart Conceptualism” will showcase the early collages that combine abstract painting, text, and image; and a selection of many of the artist’s best-known blackboard paintings, in which a faux blackboard surface is used as the ground for realistic, painted vignettes adjacent to fragments of different stories that suggest variously ambiguous meanings. A number of large, room-sized installations will also be included.
The performing arts groups are: Amphibian Stage Productions, Artes de la Rosa, Arts Fifth Avenue, Ballet Concerto, Ballet Folklorico Azteca de Fort Worth, Ballet Folklorico de Fort Worth, BellaVision, Butterfly Connection, Buttermilk Junction, Casa Mañana, Contemporary Dance / Fort Worth, Cowtown Opry, DVA Productions, Fort Worth Civic Orchestra, Fort Worth Classic Guitar Society, Fort Worth Opera, Hip Pocket Theatre, Historic Fort Worth, Imagination Celebration, Kids Who Care, Lone Star Chorus, Lone Star Film Society, Melange Musicale, MONDO Drummers, Taps n’ Tunes, Texas Ballet Theater, Texas Camerata, Texas Girls Choir, and the Youth Orchestra of Greater of Fort Worth.
