They are unforgettable

 

Lilacs often indicate the first signs of spring. Colorful, fragrant and full with bloom, they often turn on your memory bank that brings back a favorite story, a visit to a loved one or an event that is unforgettable.

In trying to duplicate an exciting moment, many plant lovely lilac bushes to trigger the senses to return to the past. However, there are several species of lilac bushes and selecting one that has no scent is an easy mistake to make.

Bloomerang Purple

Bloomerang® Purple is a hybrid that blooms not only in early spring, but also continues to re-bloom in mid spring, late spring, mid-summer and late summer. While some find the re-blooming an invasion of nature, others relish the thought of repeated beauty.

Congo

The Congo heirloom variety goes back to the 1890s when nature was appreciated. They bear beautiful deep wine-red flowers that are as fragrant as they are pretty. The bold color is a distinct way to advertise the location of the rich scent pours out.

Beauty of Moscow

Beauty of Moscow is a breathtaking lilac with pink, pearl-like buds that open into gorgeous double white flowers that are strongly fragrant. Known for its strong fragrance, give it plenty of space as they can grow to be 15 feet tall and 12 feet wide.

Many white lilac species are known to have little or no scent are purely decorative. Common lilac (Syringa vulgaris), also known as old-fashioned lilac, possess the strongest and most pleasing aroma of all lilac species. In fact, it’s usually the medium to dark purple varieties that are the most fragrant.
