They will be ‘empowered’ with an honor

     (PNAN-NY) – Six of America’s leading student photographers will be presented the 2010 YPA Scholarship awards on Tuesday, October 12 in New York City, to be held at the Metropolitan Pavilion from 7:00-10:00 pm. They are: Freshman Alex Sanchez at the Ringling College of Art and Design; Graduate student Stacy Kranitz, Louisiana State University; Sophomore Long Tran, Wood Tobe-Coburn College; Sophomore Haley Flores, Wartburg College; Junior Yasmin Alishav, Art Center College of Design; and Freshman Clarence Baillo of the Art Institute-Pittsburgh.

     The scholarship awards, including the Mentoring, Internship, Educational Outreach and Networking are the various Young Photographers Alliance programs that aims to nurture talented young photographers to emerge as tomorrow’s top visual artists and documenters of our world. Bestowing the awards for this event are noted photographers: Barbara Bordnick, Doug Menuez, Eric Meola, Michel Tcherevkoff, Ron Haviv and Timothy Greenfield-Sanders.

     In conjunction, the Benefit Auction continues online until October 28, will include collectible signed prints by Amy Arbus, Antoine Verglas, Barbara Bordnick, Brad Trent, Cameron Davidson, Chris Jordan, Daniel Kramer, Darrell Gulin, Doug Menuez, Hans Neleman, Henry Horenstein, Howard Schatz, Jill Enfield, John Lund, Marcus Gaab, Martyn Thompson, Russ Quackenbush, Sean Justice, Sebastian Smith, Shannon Fagan, Spencer Jones, Stephen Mallon, Toby McFarlan Pond and Vincent Dixon. Prints by the 2010 and 2009 YPA Scholarship winners are also available.
