Those deserving sought

     (AAPNW-IN) – Almost four decades ago in the early 1970s, the biennial awards recognize excellence in artistic achievement, philanthropy, arts education, leadership in the arts, and at the same time built a statewide awareness of the important role the arts play in Hoosier state. Now open are nominations for the 2011 Governor’s Arts Awards, which the guidelines can be found at www.in.gov/arts/2332.htm on the Indiana Arts Commission site that will be accepted until 4:30 pm December 15, 2010.  

     In 2009, Governor Mitch Daniels honored the renowned opera singer Angela Brown, Indianapolis; the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis; Sweetwater Sound, Inc., Fort Wayne; Vectren Corporation, Evansville; Ball Brothers Foundation, and George and Frances Ball Foundation, Muncie. Nominations originally made, but not selected for the 2009 can be updated if needed for 2011 reconsidered.
