‘Understudy’ becomes Symphony’s star

(AAPNW-TN) –  The curtains will rise as scheduled at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena, with American country singer Jo Dee Messina, replacing Jewel, who is ill and cannot go on with her November 11-13 appearance with the Nashville Symphony as part of the Bank of America Pops Series.

With her roots in Massachusetts, Messina grew up listening to country music and by age 16 had a band. Three years later she ended up in Nashville, signed and then dropped by one major label, she became a Curb Records “jewel” and since has scored nine No. 1 singles, three No. 1 albums, two GRAMMY® nominations, an ASCAP Song of the Year Award, and honors from the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. Also, she holds acclaim as the first female country artist to have three consecutive No. 1 singles from the same album.

As one of country music’s most distinctive voices, since her success with, “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” Messina’s latest release, “Unmistakable,” also includes live bonus tracks of her biggest hits.
