Walker on KMAC chat roster

    (AAPNW-KY) – On Tuesday, November 9 at 6:00 pm at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft in Louisville, poet Frank X. Walker will give a gallery talk titled, “The History of African American Images and Caricatures in US Culture, from Gone with the Wind to President Obama.” 

     Walker, who has gathered a collection of approximately 200 black superhero action figures and posters, will discuss the cultural impact of superheroes of color and on display will be more than thirty of his collectibles, including action figures from comics, movies, sports and entertainment, such as Jimmie Hendrix, Dr. J, Jim Brown, the Notorious B.I.G., Blade, Spawn, and many more.

     The lecture is free for museum members and $5 for non-members, and is part of the Museum’s “Planes, Trains and Superheroes” show on view through December 31. For more information, see www.kentuckyarts.org or call 502.589.0102.
