LOUISVILLE, KY (AAPNW) – On view at the Kentucky Museum through Sunday, January 22, 2023, Natureish/Nurtureish” is an exhibition featuring Louisville-based artist Monica Stewart, who specializes in cut paper and fiber art with new works that imagines an alternative reality characterized by the cooperation between humans and their environment.

Throughout the her exhibit, artist Stewart asks us to contemplate our relationship to each other and to the world around us as we enter a new era marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing climate crisis.

Within Stewart’s whimsical world, moths drink the tears of sleeping birds and human bodies hold the capacity to host plant life; thusly, she examines the biological phenomena of symbiosis which is the interaction between two organisms.
