Young ‘shooters’ to meet in the Big Apple

     (PNAN) – Judges Stephen Mayes, Managing Director at VII Photo, Steve Diamond, Executive Director of Photography at Scholastic Inc., Spencer Jones, CEO at Glasshouse Images, and YPA founder Jerry Tavin know the Young Photographers Alliance/YPA is dedicated to developing the talent of young photographers through education. They, the judges said yes to: Ringling College of Art and Design Freshman, Alex Sanchez for the ASMP Award/American Society of Media Photographers; Stacy Kranitz, Graduate student at Louisiana State University, also an ASMP Award; Wood Tobe-Coburn College Sophomore, Long Tran for the APA Award/Advertising Photographers of America; Wartburg College Sophomore Haley Flores for the Alamy Award/stock photo agency; Art Center College of Design Junior, Yasmin Alishav for the Jerry Tavin Award; and Art Institute-Pittsburgh Freshman, Clarence Baillo was awarded the Photolibrary Honorable Mention.

     The awards will be presented to the winners by some of America’s noted photographers, such as Eric Meloa and Doug Menuez at the YPA Annual Awards Ceremony and Benefit Auction in New York City on Tuesday, October 12 between 7:00-10:00 pm. Also to be on view, the work of this year’s awardees, who are currently creating photo essays on the theme of “Answering Adversity”. In addition, the benefit auction will include highly collectable signed prints, donated by well-known photographers.
